I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, providing individual and couples counselling through an attachment-based, emotion-focused, and trauma-informed lens.
I am naturally curious about what sits beneath the surface of our experiences, including the emotions, needs, and patterns that shape how we understand ourselves and connect with others. I bring warmth, curiosity, and authenticity to the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a space where you can show up as you are.
My work is collaborative and tailored to each client. I do not believe there is one way to do therapy. Instead, I draw from different therapeutic approaches to meet you where you are at and support the changes you are hoping to make.
Hi, I am Jamie
Who I Work Best With
My approach tends to resonate with people who are curious about understanding themselves more deeply and interested in exploring the patterns beneath their experiences.
You may find this work particularly helpful if you have a sense that you understand what is happening intellectually, but still find yourself caught in familiar emotional or relational patterns. I work well with clients who are open to exploring their emotions, relationships, and experiences with curiosity and compassion, and who want to develop a deeper understanding of themselves rather than simply manage symptoms.
I work with adult individuals and couples and welcome clients at different stages of their lives and therapeutic journeys.
My Approach
My work is grounded in attachment-based, emotion-focused, and trauma-informed care. I draw from several therapeutic approaches and tailor the work to each client's needs, goals, and experiences. A trauma-informed lens guides how I approach the therapeutic relationship, with an emphasis on safety, collaboration, choice, and pacing. I remain attentive to how past experiences can shape present-day emotions, relationships, and patterns, while respecting each client's readiness and autonomy throughout the process.
-
Attachment-based therapy explores how our early experiences and relationships can shape the ways we understand ourselves, connect with others, and respond to closeness, conflict, and emotional needs. Exploring these patterns can help create greater awareness and new possibilities for connection.
-
EFIT focuses on emotions as an important source of information about our needs, experiences, and relationships. Therapy can help you become more aware of emotional patterns, work through difficult emotions, and develop new ways of responding to yourself and the world around you.
-
EFCT focuses on the relationship patterns that couples can become caught in. Rather than seeing one partner as the problem, we explore the cycle between partners and the underlying emotions and needs that drive it. The goal is to support greater understanding, responsiveness, and secure connection.
-
EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a trauma-focused approach that can help people process distressing experiences that continue to affect them in the present. I integrate EMDR into individual therapy when it is appropriate for the client, their needs, and their goals.
-
Narrative Therapy explores the stories we develop about ourselves, our relationships, and our experiences. Together, we can examine the beliefs and meanings that have shaped these stories, make space for perspectives that may have been overlooked, and explore new ways of understanding yourself and your experiences.
-
Gestalt Therapy emphasizes awareness of your present experience, including your emotions, thoughts, body sensations, and ways of relating to others. It can help bring greater awareness to patterns that may be happening in the moment and create opportunities to explore new ways of responding and connecting.
